Midwest Parasite Outbreak Linked to Produce Concerns

Health officials are tracking a Midwest outbreak of cyclosporiasis, a parasitic infection that can cause severe stomach symptoms.

Hoffman Estates Data Center Proposal Draws Pushback

A proposed data center near Higgins Road and Route 59 in Hoffman Estates drew strong opposition from nearby residents over traffic, noise, light pollution and air quality concerns. The developer has withdrawn its rezoning request for now, saying it heard the community feedback and would need to return with a more detailed plan. (Link)

Suburban Homes Hit Hard by Weekend Flooding

Heavy Fourth of July weekend rain caused flooding across parts of the Chicago suburbs, damaging roads, basements and homes.

NBC Chicago reported significant flooding in Bartlett and Darien, where some residents spent the weekend cleaning up after water rushed into their homes.

With more summer storms possible, it’s a good reminder to check gutters, drains, sump pumps and basement windows. (Link)
